While most auto shows nowadays are dominated by supercars or exotic marquees displaying their latest creations, news from Subaru is more than enough to make us delighted. At the recent 2015 New York International Motor Show, Subaru had introduced their spanking new STI Performance Concept and we are sure glad that it was not an April Fool’s prank.
A first impression on this aggressive machine? Love at first sight. Take your regular BRZ, slap it with some menacing and functional aerokit, and give a couple of tweaks under the hood as well to not make this a show-but-no-go car.
Now Subaru did not exactly go into the details in explaining this new Concept, but they did sourced most of the parts from a fiercer BRZ – the BRZ GT300 Super GT racecar. Aside from the suspension setup, chassis components and the aerodynamic upgrades, the engine is also one that you will find residing in the race car as well!
No official figures were presented on this power plant, but the most possible estimation for the output would be somewhere in the 300-horsepower range. It is a bit frustrating that Subaru has yet to introduce a more powerful BRZ for the masses but with the emergence of such a concept, at least we know that they are very much interested in seeing one take shape.
