If some of you recall, Alfa Romeo’s new Giulia is not only a looker but also a fast machine as well as it lapped the Nurburgring in a respectable 7:39. Probably being too close for comfort, BMW sent out their new M4 GTS to do the same task and came back with an impressive lap time that will certainly get the Italian’s attention.
BMW had recently posted up a video showing their M4 GTS registering a lap time of 7:27.88 around Nurburgring’s Nordschleife, which in no doubt is fast. To give you an idea of how fast that is, it is slightly faster than a McLaren MP4-12C (7:28), miles ahead from a Lexus LFA (7:38), and puts the old M3 GTS to shame (7:48).
The M4 GTS was born to be fast as it is track-focused and has only two seats, making it not much of a surprise for it to beat the Giulia. But being 11 seconds faster than the new Alfa sedan and 24 seconds over the standard M4, you know the 493-horsepower and water injection are not just for show.
“The BMW M4 GTS is indeed a thrilling overall package. This is not just because of its formidable engine but the three-way coilover suspension also plays an important role. The kinematics, tyres, aerodynamics, and the design of the ‘driver’s workplace’ all of these components are coordinated to work together perfectly,” said Jörg Weidinger, the driver responsible on taking the M4 GTS around the Ring as quickly as possible.
