The Porsche Cayman GT4, Ferrari 488 GTB and Nissan’s new GT-R LM Nismo. If the appearances of these three impressive machines are yet to satisfy your needs, then there is always room for one more. After Ford had surprisingly given us the amazing gift of a new Ford GT, they had finally unveiled their new and serious Focus RS which is definitely a hot hatch to look after.
“The all-new Focus RS is a serious machine with high-performance technology and innovative engineering that sets a new benchmark for driving exhilaration on the road and track,” said Raj Nair, the Vice President of Ford’s Global Product Development.
“The RS line has a proud history of technical breakthroughs that have migrated to mainstream Ford vehicles to benefit all of our customers, and the new Focus is no exception,” he added.
The new Focus RS will house a 2.3-liter turbocharged EcoBoost engine which was not specified of its exact output, but was hinted to produce in excess of 315-horsepower or 320PS. A quick recap of the previous RS reveals that its 305-horsepower 2.5-liter engine allowed it to do a zerotohundred in 5.9 seconds. With more power coming out from the engine, the new RS should be able to clear such figure.
Not to forget, this new RS also comes with Ford Performance All-Wheel Drive with Dynamic Vectoring Control, which would be a great help in providing outstanding traction and grip with optimal agility and cornering speed.
Also fitted on the new RS are sports suspension with spring rates, bushings and anti-roll bars, dampers with changeable settings, and electric power steering. Ford had also worked alongside Michelin to develop high performance 235/35 R19 tires for the Focus RS with the Pilot Super Sport lined up for everyday usage and the optional Pilot Sport Cup 2 for the track.
