Set to captivate the customers with the blend of emotion, superior road handling, performance and exceptional fuel efficiency, TC Euro Cars, the sole franchise holder of Renault cars in Malaysia had recently previewed the new Renault Clio GT LINE at Pavilion, Kuala Lumpur. The Clio is actually one of Renault’s best-selling cars in the market with 12.5 million units sold from 1990-2014.
“With the new Renault Clio GT LINE, Malaysians can now own a popular mainstream version of the Clio – Renault’s best-selling model – that is fun to drive with low running costs thanks to its innovative 1.2-liter turbo engine,” said Kuan Kim Luen, CEO of TC Euro Cars Sdn Bhd.
The aforementioned 1.2-liter engine features Renault’s Turbo Control Efficiency or TCe 120 where the small four-cylinder engine is paired with a turbocharger to deliver performance equivalent to a naturally-aspirated 1.8-liter engine. The 118-horsepower and 190Nm of torque is then transferred to the front wheels via a six-speed Efficient Dual Clutch (EDC) transmission, allowing the Clio GT LINE to do a zerotohundred in 9.4 seconds and at the same time offers fuel efficiency of up to 5.2L/100km.
The simplicity of the Clio GT LINE’s design is also the main characteristics of the hatchback where it is like a toned down Clio RS. The front-end design features the Renault logo set on a gloss black background and a set of headlights fitted with LED daytime running lights.
A special rear bumper design, body-coloured side protective mouldings with dark metal insert, dark metal door mirror housing, extra-tinted rear glass, special 17-inch alloy wheels as well as GT LINE badging on the tailgate, which also features the spoiler from Renault Clio R.S. all contribute to the sporty exterior of the New Renault CLIO GT LINE.
Over to the interior, the driver will get a leather-trimmed steering wheel and like the Clio RS, the GT LINE is also fitted with Renault Sport-badged door sill guards. An optimally-positioned multimedia system sits in the centre console and the seats are wrapped in specific upholstery to provide comfort to the occupants.
Safety has not been compromised by Renault as the Clio GT LINE gets a five-star rating from EuroNCAP, adult protection with reinforced structure and multiple airbags, a three-point ISOFIX child seat anchorage, Electronic Stability Control with Roll Movement Intervention, Hill Start Assist, ABS and Emergency Brake Assist.
The new Renault Clio GT LINE will be available in Malaysia at an estimated price of RM 118,000 with an additional RM 5,000 for the Flame Red colour. The five-door hatchback will be available in four colours – Flame Red, Diamond Black, Glacier White and Malta Blue.
Like all Renault passenger cars, service intervals for the New Renault CLIO GT LINE are 10,000km or six months, whichever comes first. It also comes with a five-year unlimited mileage manufacturer’s warranty.
