Featuring the most powerful V8 model in its segment, Mercedes-Benz Malaysia today announces the availability of their new Mercedes-AMG C 63 S into the local market. Sipping only 8.2 liters of fuel per 100km, the new C 63 S surprises its rivals in being the most economical eight-cylinder car in the high-performance segment and at the same time setting a new benchmark.
“The Mercedes-AMG C 63 carries the typical AMG DNA. The AMG 4.0-litre V8 biturbo engine impresses with its fulminating power delivery and highly emotional engine sound. In terms of output, torque and fuel consumption, the C 63 takes the peak position in its segment. It once again demonstrates our technological leadership in the high-performance segment,” says Mark Raine, Vice President, Sales & Marketing Passenger Cars, Mercedes-Benz Malaysia.
Like previously mentioned, the new generation of C 63 is now powered by a smaller M177 4.0-liter V8 biturbo engine, which is closely related to the M178 engine found in the AMG GT. This new V8 engine features two turbochargers where instead of mounted on the outside of the cylinder banks, they are found on the inside of the V configuration which is also called as ‘hot inside V’.
This grants the C 63 S an output of 510-horsepower at 5,500-6250rpm and a peak torque of 700Nm at 1750-4500rpm. Mated to the AMG SPEEDSHIFT MCT 7-speed sports transmission, zerotohundred is dealt with in just 4.0 seconds and will keep on accelerating to an electronically limited top speed of 250 km/h.
Having a turbocharged configuration does not mean that the C 63 has lost its throaty identity. A sport exhaust system with special exhaust flap technology is used for the car and depending on the AMG DYNAMIC SELECT transmission mode, the engine note varies from subdued for the long distance journeys to the angry growling for more excitement. Drivers can choose between three selectable exhaust flaps which are “Comfort”, “Sport +” and “Race”.
To offer outstanding agility and high cornering speeds, the C 63 has model-specific axles with high aluminium content, performance-oriented kinematics, electronically controlled shock absorbers and AMG-specific elastokinematics. Couple that with the AMG RIDE CONTROL sports suspension, the customer is able to choose between maximum sportiness and pronounced long-distance comfort in three stages at the push of a button.
On the inside, Mercedes has selected high-grade materials with a pleasant touch of precise workmanship for a high quality finish. The dashboard is lined with black ARTICO man-made leather and the black interior is topped off with dashes of red accents all over.
The C 63 S gets a three-spoke steering wheel with a 12 o’clock marking and not to forget the performance seats which is an optional extra.
