If you are looking forward in joining a GT3 discipline race and still have not decided on what to roll in with, then this machine might be one that you could consider. Porsche has just revealed their new 911 GT3 R customer race car for the GT3 series and this version has seen tonnes of improvements from their previous GT3 R.
For this new race car, Porsche had put their focus on cutting down any unnecessary weight and improving the aerodynamics. In order to be one step ahead of its rivals, the handling and fuel consumption have also been improved, with the latter coming in very handy during endurance races. Based on the GT3 RS, the wheelbase of the GT3 R has been stretched out by 8.3cm, leading to a better balanced weight distribution and a more predictable handling.
The grunt for the GT3 R comes from a 4.0-liter flat-six power plant which is largely identical to the production engine of the road-going GT3 RS, except it packs an output of over 500-horsepower. With such power and tipping the scales at 1,220kg, this new GT3 R is not a race car that one should be underestimating. Power is sent to the rear wheels via a sequential six-speed constant-mesh gearbox.
Bringing the car to a halt is a set of six-piston aluminium monobloc racing calipers in the front (380mm discs), and four-piston calipers at the rear (372mm discs). The 120-liter fuel tank now comes with a cut-off safety valve and the escape hatch in the roof has been made larger. Deliveries for the new GT3 R will start in December with a price tag of €429,000 (RM 1,735,527).
