“Chaotic” does not even start to describe the opening round of the rebranded Malaysia Championship Series (MCS) which was previously known as the Malaysian Super Series (MSS) held at Sepang International Circuit. Being one of the support races for the 2015 Malaysian GP, the grid was also joined by the Renault Clio Cup China, filling the circuit with 52 cars on the grid.

Nevertheless, the race must go on and it sure was a spectacle for the audiences as the race was filled with close fights and bumper-to-bumper actions from the start to the chequered flag. Race 1 took place on Saturday morning and saw Chris Tan of Pentagon Racing taking the win for the Touring Production class, while Proton R3’s Fariqe Hairuman and Syafiq Ali took first and third respectively.

In Race 2 however, things started to get a bit messy. With the results or Race 1 determining the grid positions for Race 2, Pentagon Racing’s Alan Wong started the race in front. But it was not a walk in the park as he was being chased by Nijay Ayyad who was also in an FD2R. The duel between them went on for a couple of laps but unfortunately for Nijay, he had to back off as he encountered problems with the car on Lap 4.

With Alan stretching the lead, the battle for second place was fought between Singaporean Claire Louise Jedrek from Team R Engineering and Desmond Khoo from N1 Racing. As they fought to claim the position, the duel was cut short as on Lap 6, the race was red flagged as one of the Renault Clios went turtle. Claire took home second place and Desmond was more than happy to be able to secure a podium finish.

Race 2 was definitely on Proton R3’s side as their cars were in first and second position when the race was stopped. With a 1-2 finish for them, Fitra Eri from Team Sakura Tedco Racing finished in third position.
