Since almost all major automaker is coming up with a new and attention-grabbing model to be displayed at the upcoming Geneva Motor Show, Lotus would not want to be left behind in the game. Using their Evora as the base, they had come up with a new model called the Evora 400 that might just hit the right notes for some.
What they have done to the Evora is giving the car the usual treatment of weight-shaving and a quick trip to the gym for some muscle. Probably not much of a surprise, the supercharged and charge-cooled mid-mounted 3.5-liter V6 engine gains 45-horsepower from the Evora S, raising the output to 400-horsepower. The torque figure also went up a notch from 400Nm to 410Nm.
Now with more power, the Evora 400 managed to shave off 0.3 seconds in the zerotohundred sprint to 4.1 seconds. It also lapped the Lotus test track in Hethel, Norfolk 6 seconds faster than the Evora S and has a top speed of 300km/h.
Lotus said that “over two thirds of the Lotus 400 is new” and that is not an exaggeration as the 400 now looks more aggressive on both ends, the cabin has been redesigned and received an updated manual and automatic transmission.
“The Evora 400 is the fastest road-going Lotus that we have ever produced, possessing performance that can only be matched by cars costing significantly more. It delivers supercar looks allied to supercar performance,” said the CEO of Lotus Cars Jean-Marc Gales.
