The car was first seen in concept form two years ago. But after keeping quite a low profile after all those time, it seems that this new Honda roadster is set to make its showroom debut sooner or later as the S660 was caught in its final form at what it seems like a port, possibly somewhere in Japan.
The looks of the S660 is pretty much similar to what we have seen on the concept, minus the futuristic cockpit where it has been toned down to enter production phase which includes the digital instrument cluster and center console.
The car will be powered by a 660cc three-cylinder engine that with the help of a turbocharger, produces 64-horsepower and 77 lb-ft of torque. It will be mated to a six-speed manual transmission, and it is expected to house a CVT as well, as previewed on the concept. 64 horses might not sound like much, but there are rumours running around for a more powerful S1000 model for the global market, but Honda has yet to confirm the existence of such a car.
If this does not tickle your fancy, Honda did say that they are coming out with three new mid-engine sports cars in which this S660 is included. Aside from the new NSX, the one sitting in the middle is rumoured to be the replacement for the S2000 and we are properly excited to see that one taking shape, if the rumours are true of course.
