Ferrari Dino rumoured to return with a mid-mounted turbo V6?

If you picture a Ferrari in being a curvy red, mid-engined Italian machine, then the Dino fits perfectly into the frame. Easily one of the sexiest cars ever came from Ferrari, the name ‘Dino’ honours the founder’s late son Alfredo ‘Dino’ Ferrari who had passed away at a young age of 24 due to illness. But it seems that the name might soon be revived as there are rumours that the Dino might soon be making a comeback.

While such rumours have been going on for quite some time, the latest one is quite credible as it comes from none other than the Ferrari chairman and Fiat Chrysler Automobiles himself, Sergio Marchionne. During an interview with Autocar, he explained that any new Dino would not be a new point of entry to the brand, and it is still important to maintain exclusivity of the Prancing Horse.

“We may produce a 500 horsepower Ferrari but it will not be a cheap Ferrari. The brand is unique and needs to be protected,” said Marchionne. With an output less than the entry-level 552-horsepower California T, this might suggest that the future Dino be powered by a V6 engine, similar to the original Dino.
