The World’s First “Megacar” is Unveiled – the Koenigsegg One:1!

We have heard of the car, and recently a couple of pictures went out, revealing this mysterious monster’s flesh to the world. But now it is hiding in the shadows no more as the Swedish supercar maker Koenigsegg had finally lifted the covers off their much-hyped Bugatti-trampler. Say hello to the all-new Koenigsegg One:1.

By now, it is a well-known fact that this new creation is named after the power-to-weight ratio of this car – 1:1. Koenigsegg can fully optimize the 1,360-horsepower (which also equals to 1 megawatt; hence the megacar designation) with a car that weighs only 1,360kg. Of course, this is not the only car that has such a ratio as the Ariel Atom V8 comes close with their 1:1.09. But the One:1 surely trumps ahead as it does not have to sacrifice some essentials like a roof or a windscreen.

Coming back to the car, the One:1 is able to achieve the impressive 1:1 ratio through the combination of a lightweight carbon-fiber chassis that is 20kg lighter than the Agera R’s, and is powered by a tweaked 5.0-liter V8 engine found in the Agera, mated to a seven-speed dual clutch automatic transmission with an electronic differential.

With a torque figure of 1,371Nm at 6,000rpm, Koenigsegg said that the One:1 is able to go from 0-400km/h in just 40 seconds, and taking it back to 0 in around 10 seconds are a set of massive ceramic brakes. The car also features active aerodynamics that blesses it with the grip to sustain 2G in lateral cornering force, and generate up to 610kg of downforce at 260km/h.

Now the auto news has been buzzing with the Hennessey Venom GT hitting 435km/h at the NASA runway and while that is properly fast, the tires fitted to the One:1 are rated to go up to 440km/h. While that could easily dethrone the Venom GT, we would very much like to see Koenigsegg doing an actual run and translating these figures into real life.
