After a number of teasers and keeping us at the edge of our seats, finally Lexus is being kind enough to take the covers off its new sports coupe. Built based on the latest IS sedan, this is the RC F and it will serve as Lexus’ main contender against the BMW M4, Audi RS5, and the upcoming Mercedes Benz C63 AMG Coupe.
Unfortunately like the new WRX STI that we posted earlier, no vital figures accompanied this set of eye candies. But based on leaked information on the RC F, it may be powered by a new V8 engine with an output of 460-horsepower. Lexus said that the RC F coupe is “styled to support the most powerful V8 performance car ever developed by Lexus”. An automatic transmission with paddle shifters will most likely be equipped in the RC F.
Other than having better mechanical and handling characteristics, the F model of the RC will also come with wider wheels and tires hiding under swollen fenders, an active rear wing that rises automatically at approximately 80 km/h and retracts when the speed is less than 40 km/h. Expect additional vents and carbon fiber parts to further differentiate the F from the others.
Subtle changes were also made to the interior, where the RC F comes with unique components including the instrument panel with a single central meter and customizable display, steering wheel, body hugging seats, trims and pedals.
