Redefining driving excitement and performance with practicality in mind, MINI Malaysia today introduced the second body variant of the third-gen MINI, the new MINI 5-Door. This latest MINI is the first ever five-door model in the small car segment and will further underscore the British premium brand’s driving excitement, efficiency, comfort, safety, and connectivity with complete practicality.

While still retaining the distinctive MINI design elements, the 5-Door is 16cm longer than the original MINI to emphasize the new model’s offering of more space and the additional doors option. This new MINI 5-Door is 3,982mm long, 1,727mm wide and 1,425mm high. Aside from the added accessibility for the back-seat passengers, the extended body length also increases the luggage compartment volume by 67 litres, giving it a total of 278 litres.
As for the looks, the MINI 5-Door gets a honeycomb radiator grille and classic elliptical LED headlamps. Fitted with LED daytime running lights and fog lights, it also gets sports run-flat tyres with 17-inch Roulette Spoke two-tone rims.
Powering the MINI 5-Door is 2.0-liter MINI TwinPower Turbo Technology petrol engine that pushes out a maximum output of 192-horsepower and 280Nm of torque, which is the same power plant introduced in the MINI 3-Door earlier this year. Mated to a six-speed automatic sport transmission, zerotohundred is dealt in just 6.8 seconds and has a top speed of 230km/h. The MINI 5-Door sips 5.5 liters of fuel per 100km with a CO2 emissions level reading of 129g/km.
On the inside, the MINI 5-Door features Leather Cross Punch Carbon Black Upholstery as well as sports seats for both the driver and front passenger. Further giving it a sportier is the MINI John Cooper Works multifunction leather steering wheel with paddle shifters, rain sensor and automatic lights control, non-slip leather rims with perforations, Chilli Red contrast stitching and the JCW logo embedded into the 6 o’clock position.
The MINI Connected offers extensive integration of smartphones in the car, allowing access to internet-based services in the area of infotainment, communications and driver experience. It can be operated through a 6.5-inch MINI Visual Boost LCD display with 5-key controller.
The MINI 5-Door will be offered in eleven exterior paint shades, with the addition of Electric Blue as a new MINI colour exclusive to this new model. The roof, exterior mirror caps and bonnet stripes are also available in two colour options of white or black.
Priced at RM 238,888 (OTR personal registration, without insurance), the MINI 5-Door also comes with the MINI Service Inclusive program, offering MINI after-sales service for 3 years or 50,000km. This new model will be available at all authorized MINI dealership nationwide from the weekend of the 15th and 16th November 2014.
