Rumours about a turbocharged Ferrari 458 has been circulating for quite some time, since the trend to downsize engine and turbocharging it has been steadily growing recently. So it comes as no surprise that Ferrari is also employing the same technique to the 458. Shown here are the first spyshots of the upcoming turbocharged Ferrrari 458.

From the pictures, pretty much the whole Ferrari 458 is covered up, suggesting possible changes on the exterior. Sharp eyed readers would notice the exhaust now has a duel exhaust system in place of the 458’s original center mounted triple exhaust. Whether the exhaust changes makes it to production is not yet known. Despite the changes, the new model would likely be called the 458 Modificato, or short, 458 M.

Under the hood, the 458 M will likely be powered by a twin turbo 3.8L V8 engine. Power wise, expect the 458 M to churn out in the region of 670 hp. About 100 hp more than the regular 458 makes. Zerotohundred will be achieved in less than 3.4 seconds easily, with a possible top speed of at least 325 km/h.

Downsizing and turbocharging, as mentioned earlier, is not unseen for supercars, as BMW, Mercedes Benz, McLaren and Porsche has taken this route to maximize engine power and reduce fuel consumption at the same time.  Could the turbocharged 458 M be a sign that all future Ferraris will be turbocharged as well? From the looks of it, very likely, as Ferrari’s competition has already begun doing so.
