Say Hello To The Infiniti Q50 BTCC Racer!

Infiniti, the premium marque of Nissan, don’t usually joint races, but when they do, they create a stunner. Infiniti will be racing a Q50 in the 2015 Dunlop MSA British Touring Car Championship. The Q50 racer will be piloted by Richard Hawken and Derek Palmer Jr.

The Infiniti Q50 racer isn’t all about winning races, however, but for a bigger cause. The team will be known as Infiniti Support Our Paras Racing, with injured paratroopers maintaining and prepping the Q50 racer. Infiniti spokesperson said, “The team aim’s to specifically help raise awareness and funds for Support Our Paras, the official charity of The Parachute Regiment, one of the most iconic Regiments in the British army.”

Infiniti probably wont be using their famed VQ series V6 engines, since the BTCC ruling requires them to use a 2L inline four engine. It is possible that the Q50 BTCC would be using the Mercedes-Benz M274 2L inline-4 engine thats offered to certain markets.

“We’ve set ourselves a number of significant, but achievable targets,” said Derek Palmer Sr, father of Derek Palmer Jr, who is also the team principal. “Of course we are aware of the challenges ahead of us, but with the united forces of The Paras and Infiniti, we believe we have the power to deliver results in the BTCC.”

Profits gained by the team will be donated to the ‘Support Our Paras’ charity.
