When running on a tight and twisty stretch of tarmac like Goodwood’s hill climb route, one would need proper experience to commandeer a machine to stay on the course and not ending up in the stack of hays at the side of the course. Unfortunately for Sir Chris Hoy, he ended up in the latter scenario.

During the 2014 Goodwood Festival of Speed that had just concluded last weekend, six-time Olympic cycling champion Sir Chris Hoy drove the new 2014 Nissan GT-R Nismo through the Goodwood uphill course. While it did looked like he had the car in control in the early parts of the course, spectators were in a show when he arrived at the Molecomb corner.

Overshooting the corner, he lost control of the GT-R and went straight into the haystacks, damaging the front end. The airbags were also deployed in this incident, but luckily Hoy escaped this mishap unscathed.

This is Hoy’s first time in attending the Goodwood Festival of Speed ever since he retired from cycling and took up motorsports. He is currently racing in the 2014 British GT Championship and is gunning to participate in the 2016 24 Hours of Le Mans.
