Based on the ML, Mercedes-Benz had recently unveiled their new GLE coupe ahead of its 2015 launch to rival the BMW’s X6 crossover. The photos revealed that Mercedes did not veer too far from the concept version previewed in Beijing but like all concept-to-production transition, the styling was toned down for a more realistic touch like the headlights.

“Our GLE Coupe combines typical coupe attributes, such as sportiness, dynamism and agility, with the confident presence, versatility and robustness of an SUV,” said Mercedes-Benz Chief Development Officer, Thomas Weber.

The GLE will be offered in two petrol modes and one diesel, and only a nine-speed automatic transmission is offered that sends the power to all four wheels via a permanent all-wheel drive. The flagship model will be the GLE450 AMG Coupe which comes with a biturbo V6 petrol engine producing 362-horsepower and 383 lb-ft of torque.

It is also said that Mercedes is planning for a full-blown GLE 63 AMG version that is powered by a twin-turbocharged 5.5-liter V8. As for the time being, Mercedes has yet to reveal any performance figures for any of the models.
