The Lamborghini Gallardo has been with us for ages and had led to the spawning of numerous variants all over the years. And like how this baby Lambo’s place has been taken away by the new Huracan, the current Gallardo Super Trofeo race car will soon be departing the arena to make way for the new Huracan Super Trofeo.

Set for a debut on the 2014 World Finals at Sepang International Circuit later in November, Lamborghini had recently conducted a shakedown session of this new Bull on the “Piero Taruffi” Vallelunga Circuit in Italy. Unfortunately, they had yet released any official images of the shakedown, and had only supplied us with this sole sneak peek shot of the car.

Like how the Gallardo was transformed, you could expect the car getting some massive upgrades. An aero makeover is a must, with a revised front intake, rear diffuser and a massive rear spoiler. No word on any power upgrades as in for the moment. But since the Gallardo Super Trofeo had the power output of a Superleggera, it is possible that the Huracan Super Trofeo could boast more than 610-horsepower.

The new Huracan Super Trofeo is set to start racing in all three Lamborghini Blancpain Super Trofeo series. And while the Huracan will be sharing the grid with some Gallardos next year, they will be racing in different classes.

The Huracan Super Trofeo was taken for a shakedown by chief test driver Giorgio Sanna, along with two Lamborghini official test drivers Adrian Zaugg and Fabio Babini.

“The first shakedown is always a very special moment. I’ve followed the development phase step by step in Sant’Agata Bolognese, and we are all enthusiastic about this very important moment. We have full confidence in both Zaugg and Babini, as well as the young drivers who will contribute to refining the new car,” said Giorgio Sanna.
