Club Audi Malaysia’s roots can be traced back till some 12 years ago, when several Audi enthusiasts got together and formed the early club. After a fiasco which disbanded the club a few years ago, the guys at at the club rebooted the club, and decided to bring it to a larger scale, this time around, making it official. Club Audi Malaysia invited us to join them with their Audi Coastal Conquest Drive to Cherating.
On day one, which was on a Friday, we gathered somewhere conspicuous in Gombak, waiting for the Audi owners to join in the fun. After signing the indemnity form and collecting our shirts, we proceeded to the car park to have a glimpse of what to expect over the next few days. Over at the car park where the owners gathered, we spotted several Audi A4, RS4, S5, some Audi TTs and a pair of Audi R8s. There were also the usual Audi Q3, Q5 and Q7 SUV mixed among the cars. We also spotted a rather cool looking first generating Audi B5 RS4.
This particular RS4 is owned by the boss of Imola Motorsports, and sports a twin turbocharged 2.7L V6 under the hood. This engine is good for almost 400 bhp, with 400 NM of torque readily available. Transmission offered was only a 6 speed manual.
The convoy for day one started at about 1000 hrs, with 72 Audis on the road, coupled with a few media cars convoyed from KL to Cherating via Karak. We stopped by the Gambang rest-stop for a quick lunch and proceeded to our respective hotels. After checking in and unloading our baggages, we proceed to Kemaman town, some 30 minutes away to enjoy famous stuff crabs from Tong Juan for dinner.
On day 2, the guys at Club Audi Malaysia took a 200 km drive from Cherating to Rumah Tunas Harapan Darul Hilmi, in Kuala Terengganu. Participants donated cash and food stuff for the needy kids. Faisal Ali, Project Director for the event handed the kids with cash gifts as well as a goodie bag to the kids.
It was obvious that the kids were overjoyed with the arrival of everyone, as evidently shown on their faces. The Audi owners had lunch with the kids before proceeding to a quick photoshoot at the Gong Badak Stadium. There was a BBQ dinner for the participants held at Casa Titik that night, with a karaoke contest.
Third day, owners were given the chance to showcase their beloved rides at the CAM-Fest, which is Club Audi Malaysia’s own small scale auto show. It was rather interesting to see how some Audi owners took great length to make sure that their ride stands out from the crowd, while others took a more subtle approach to mod their rides.
It was indeed a sight to behold, with the mighty R8 stealing the show.
The CAM Fest ended at around lunch time, so we grabbed a quick lunch, then had a peek at the participants trying their luck at some beach sports.
The official launching of Club Audi Malaysia was done on the third night itself, with sponsors, members and committee members joining in for this historical moment. Rapha Children’s Home was the second orphanage that benefited from Club Audi Malaysia’s donations. The kids were very excited about the whole event, and supervisor Grace Yeap was very thankful to everyone for their help.
There were lucky draw prizes ranging from tinting vouchers, free Audi maintenance packages, a laptop and even laser printers.
Club Audi Malaysia committee members handed over certificates to sponsors as well.
It was indeed a very memorable night, but even more memorable for Audi owner Shankara, who took the opportunity to propose to his girlfriend, Eshwary.
Club Audi Malaysia’s Coastal Conquest ended on 22 September, with memories to last for every member and participants who joined in to make the event successful. Congratulations to Club Audi Malaysia for the successful event held.
