After numerous special and limited editions, the Bugatti Veyron has finally reached the end of its life. The Bugatti Veyron has been in production for 10 years, and a total of 450 cars were sold. So the natural thing for Bugatti to do is, make an even more premium yet mental successor. Word has it that the planned successor to the Veyron will have an excess of 1500 hp, and will top the Veyron Super Sport’s top speed of 267 mph (~429 kmh).

According to sources, Bugatti is set to reveal the Veyron successor in 2016, and customers can get theirs a year later. The brawn behind the Veyron successor is said to be an improved version of the Veyron’s 8.0L W16 engine. Bugatti is said to be introducing a new direct injection fuel system as well as having electric motors along the drive-line. The Veyron successor is also said to undergo an extensive weight loss program, as engineers are working hard to keep the new car’s weight below 4000 lb (1814 kg). If that is the case, expect extensive usage of carbon fibre throughout the chassis.

The Veyron successor will be able to reach a top speed of 286 mph (460 kmh), and completing the century sprint in a mere 2.3 seconds. To achieve that top speed of 286 mph, engineers are looking at active aero to keep the car planted.
