Being the successor of the BMW 1-Series Coupe, the all-new 2-Series Coupe offers the customers a more powerful and agile car that incorporates a sportier look than before. The 2-Series Coupe will also carry on the legacy of the compact dimensions, powerful engines and a rear-wheel drive system like the iconic BMW 02 Series.

”The car carries the spirit of the BMW 02 Series which created a whole new driving experience and generation of cars when it was introduced in 1966. With the legendary BMW 2002 which clearly established BMW as “The Ultimate Driving Machine”, we are proud to continue this fine tradition today with the all-new BMW 2 Series Coupe,” said Dr. Gerhard Pils, Chief Executive Officer of BMW Group Malaysia.

The 220i carries a 2.0-liter four-cylinder petrol engine equipped with the BMW TwinPower Turbo technology, delivering an output of 184-horsepower and a peak torque of 270Nm. Sending the power to the rear via a new sport automatic transmission, the car also comes with paddle shifters and a Launch Control function.

The highlight of the car is of course the retractable hardtop that could transform the coupe into a roadster in just 20 seconds. This three-part all-electrical retractable hardtop could also be operated on the move to speeds up to 18km/h.

Although the roof is being stored in the boot, there is still plenty of room for luggage space at the back. The electro-hydraulic loading system lifts the folded hardtop in the boot to ensure maximum utilization of the 220 liters of storage space. With the roof up, the luggage compartment gets an extra 100 liters which is 20 liters more than the 3-Series convertible.
