Mazda has just unveiled the 2016 Mazda MX5, at Montery, California. Fitting their tagline, #LONGLIVETHEROADSTER, the new Mazda MX5 is set to excite. So what has changed over the predecessor? Read on to find out more!
For starters, the new Mazda MX5, codenamed ND, now features Mazda’s updated Kodo design, which looks absolutely gorgeous on this little roadster. The front end and rear end has been completely redesigned, as well as the interior. The car, in overall, has been lowered and widened, with stronger lines flowing from the front end to the rear end.
Staying true to the MX5’s legacy, the new MX5 will be lightweight (No official numbers has been released as yet), with the engine powering the rear wheels. Being a fun to drive roadster, the Mazda MX5 does offer stick shift for those who seeks the driving enjoyment.
The new MX5 will also adopt Mazda’s famed SkyActiv range of engines, with difference capacities to suit market demands.
Mazda has not mentioned what particular SkyActiv engines will power the new MX5 yet, but do expect at least one variant with turbocharging.
The new Mazda MX5 will be rolled out to global markets from 2015 onwards. Let’s start hoping that Bermaz Motors will launch this little roadster locally soon enough!
