The VLN Endurance Championship was set to kick off on March 23rd, but unfortunately bad weather and snow on certain parts of the Nurburgring had pretty much led to the cancellation of the season opener. But even when the race was cancelled, Toyota is still celebrating its participation with the release of a limited run of their much-loved FR sports car, the GT86 Cup Edition.
This 86-in-the-world specimen will be built and sold only in Germany, comes with a variety of exclusive interior and exterior features, which also includes a ticket for two to a VIP Customer event at the Nurburgring. But what exactly makes this Cup Edition different than the other GT86s roaming the streets?
For starters, this GT86 Cup Edition runs on 18-inch OZ Ultraleggera Racing alloy wheels, wrapped with high performance 225/40 R18 Pirelli P Zero Nero GT tires. The body is also offered three choices of colors to pick from; “Dynamic White Pearl”, “Furious Black Mica” and “Racing Red”, with the addition of a boot lid spoiler and racing stripes that looked similar to the ones on the Porsche GT3 RS 4.0.
A couple of refinements were also thrown in for the interior, where one could find a coat of Alcantara covering the steering wheel rim, upper section of the door, seats and the dashboard. The lower console, gearbox lever and handbrake lever on the other hand are trimmed in black leather with red accent stitching. And to top it off, one will find a brushed aluminum badge bearing the car’s serial number right beside the handbrake.
