With the 86 riding as the symbol of one of the best FR sports car available in the market today, it will only be a matter of time before a Roadster version pops out and roam the streets. And after numerous digital renderings and artist impressions later, it seems that this much rumored drop-top version will soon take its physical form as Toyota is planning to bring one to the Geneva Auto Show next month.
Officially called the FT-86 Open Concept, this car “previews a possible future development of the award-winning GT 86 sports coupe”. Sounds intriguing? It definitely is especially when the hint comes out from Toyota themselves through the release of this teaser sketch for the concept.
Toyota might have called this concept as to “gauge customer reaction for an open-top version”, but it is safe to assume that they had already planned to put this version into production. They had also confirmed that the prototype engineering assessments are already taking place.
No mechanical details of this concept were yet to be released for the time being, but all bets are down on seeing the car being a soft-top as Toyota will want to keep the weight down; which the same goes to the cost and complexity.
