The New Renault Clio Cup is a Fierce 220HP Race Car!

Replacing the previous model in use since 2006, Renaultsport had recently revealed the all-new Clio Cup race car. Based on the latest Clio Renaultsport 200 Turbo EDC, this new race machine comes with a welded roll cage, a strong monocoque chassis and an aerodynamic package for better handling at high speeds.

Powered by a 1.6-liter direct-injected turbo engine tuned by Oreca Magny-Cours, the new Clio Cup has 220 horses to gallop with and a constant torque of 270Nm (199 lb-ft). Mated to a Sadev six-speed sequential gearbox, it offers a speedy shift time between gears of just 100 miliseconds. Renaultsport also offers the choice in having the car equipped with either steering-wheel paddle shifters or the classic gearstick.

This new car features adjustable shock absorbers and adjustable axles, giving the teams the ability to set up the car according to different track conditions, and also to suit the driver’s driving style. Stopping power is provided by AP Racing’s 320mm ventilated discs fitted with 4-piston Brembo calipers in the front, and 260mm solid discs at the rear.

Over on the inside, the dashboard for the Clio Cup is designed by Cosworth Electronics, feeding the driver with essential information on the color display screen such as the fastest lap, gap and the track layout. The multi-functional steering wheel is equipped with seven buttons that could perform various functions from turning on the headlights to scrolling the display screen. This new race car is built at Renault’s Alpine factory in Dieppe and is delivered ready to race.
