Team Clearwater Racing Welcomes 2013 with a New Race Machine; the McLaren 12C GT3!

If you are familiar with the GT Asia series or even any GT race that took place at Sepang International Circuit, then the Team Clearwater Racing should not be a new name to you. Racing in the Ferrari 458 GT3, it is almost impossible to not notice this blisteringly-loud Italia passing by, bearing its iconic dragon livery on its sides. But it seems that 2013 will have a lot of surprises in store for them as for this year’s racing season, they will be switching to the all-new and proven McLaren 12C GT3 racing car.

Aiming to defend both the Team and Driver championship titles in the GT Asia series, Team Clearwater has some impressive record that puts them above from the rest. Being a three-time Malaysia Super Series (MSS) champion (2008, 2009, 2010), Malaysia Merdeka Endurance Race (MMER) overall champion in 2008 and a two-time GT Asia champion for team and driver (2011, 2012), the partnership with McLaren GT and racing in the 12C GT3 might just be what they need to conquer the 2013 season.

Still sporting the dragon livery, this new chrome GT car also complements the team’s symbolic colors of red, yellow and green. The engine in this 12C GT3 is just the same as the road-going version, but is fitted with restrictors to lower the output due to race regulations to the region of 540-horsepower.

Team Clearwater Racing started back in 2007 as Team Porsche Club Singapore Racing, and evolved into what it is today when they received their first non-Porsche race car, the Lamborghini Gallardo LP 600 GT3. Later in 2011, they also acted as Ferrari’s official race team in Southeast Asia when they acquired three Ferrari 458 GT3 race cars.
