Peugeot 208 to Arrive in Malaysia (Mid-April)

Nasim Sdn Bhd is targeting mid-April to launch the Peugeot 208 after having won multiple ‘Car of the Year’ awards in Europe and Nasim is expecting the 208 to be a major hit here in Malaysia; once it rolls out of its plant in Poissy, France and onto our shores.

Nasim hopes that the All New Peugeot 208 will contribute significantly to their 2013 sales target of selling 8,000 vehicles this year which will be a 30% rise from last year’s.

At present the 208 Pug now takes over the reigns of the 205 and the 206 with its new reworked exterior, architecture ergonomics and driving dynamics and will be offered in both 5 and 3-door variants. And thanks to its new looks, the 208 now has a Coefficient of Drag (Cd) rating of just 0.29 – tres bien, non?

There’s going to be some premium items to be had with this particular Pug, which includes the likes of front and rear LED lighting, a 7″ interactive colour HD touch screen, a floating instrument panel colour LCD display, digital auto dual zone air-conditioning, Bluetooth, USB, iPod, iPhone and Android connectivity and a high-performance audio system with Arkamys 3D sound.

However, the best part is, the 208 has been given a full 5-star rating by the EURO NCAP boys thanks to the use of high-tensile steel for its body structure although its still using the same platform as the 207 (which Malaysia missed out on), while being equipped with 6 airbags for active safety, as well as ABS, EBA, EBD, ESP, DSC and ASR for passive safety.

Under the hood of the New 208 Pug for both 5 and 3-door variants will be the a 1.6L 4-cylinder mill producing about 120bhp and 160Nm of torque with a fuel efficiency of 6.7-litre/100km on a mixed cycle.

Furthermore, there’s a contest going on at the moment Among Nasim’s pre-launch activities for the All New 208 includes a Facebook contest themed ‘Let Your Body Drive’ which offers a Samsung Galaxy Camera as the grand prize. To enter, participants need to become fans of the Peugeot Malaysia Facebook page and submit a creative photo that depicts the ‘Let Your Body Drive’ theme along with a descriptive caption.
