Moto3 Rider Zulfahmi Khairuddin Secures a Spot in the Malaysia Book of Records!

Following his remarkable achievement in scoring Malaysia’s first pole position and toping it off with a podium finish last year, our own Moto3 rider Muhammad Zulfahmi Khairuddin has his feat acknowledged with his name now penned in the Malaysia Book of Records.

Racing with the World Champion team Red Bull Racing KTM for the 2013 season, Zulfahmi is recorded as the first Moto3 Malaysian rider that managed to qualify for a pole position at the FIM World Motorcycle Championship, and also the first Moto3 Malaysian rider to have scored two podium finishes in the World Championship.

“I would like to thank SIC, AirAsia, KTM and all my sponsors for making my childhood dream to compete in the MotoGP World Championship possible. It has indeed been a fantastic journey for me”, said the Banting-born rider.

Zulfahmi scored his first pole position during the Malaysia Motorcycle Grand Prix on October 21st 2012, which was also his birthday. Racing with AirAsia SIC Ajo Racing back then, he blistered across Sepang International Circuit with a time of 2 minutes 13.885 seconds, sealing the first ever pole position by a Malaysian rider.

He continued his winning streak by securing a podium finish at the following day, which could have been a first-position finish if it was not for the fast-approaching Sandro Cortese on the final seconds of the race. Nevertheless, Zulfahmi still had his spirits on top form as he secured another podium finish at the Valencia Grand Prix with a third.

“We are very proud of Zulfahmi and hoping for the best performance of him for his new season with the new team. We will keep supporting this very talented rider and it is a great opportunity to have him at the World Championship”, said the representative from the Ministry of Youth and Sports Malaysia, Encik Azman Maarof.
