Honda has been showing us endless pictures of the upcoming NSX, and we have even seen the car in its future Super GT form; which got our thumbs up. But then, they did tease us with an open top version in The Avengers. So is there a possibility that Honda will soon put an open top version into the production line?
According to Autocar’s report, we may not have to wonder no more as Honda has confirmed that they had started working on a convertible version of the new NSX hybrid supercar. But the catch is although the hardtop will be making its appearance in 2015, the convertible will be launched at least two years after.
“We are looking at the convertible, but we have a long way to go with it”, said Principal Designer Jun Goto. For the time being, even he has not decided on whether to give the new NSX a soft or hard top for the convertible version.
As for the coupe, Goto said that while usually one is able to tell between a concept car and the production version, the new NSX will not have that much difference between those two.
“The production car is larger in every direction than the concept but it looks almost exactly the same. At least 95-percent of the exterior styling will be carried over to the production car”. The interior however will receive a different touch as unlike the exciting version we are seeing on the concept, it will be toned down to a more conservative version once it gets into production.
