HMRT Secures Top Two Positions in Qualifying, Tedco Racing Trailing Right Behind!

The Sepang 1000KM endurance race has always been the platform to put both man and machine to the test on our own 5.543 km circuit. The 180+-lap race has attracted numerous entries from both local and international, and the 2013 edition of the S1K promises a tough fight to the finish line among the competitors.

The Proton R3 racing team would no doubt be the crowd favourite in the race. Fielding the combination of Tengku Djan Ley and James Veerapan in the Preve, and Syafiq Ali and Takayuki Fujita in the Neo, the top guns would have to work hard this year as they only managed to secure the fourth and fifth position on the grid.

Our comrades from Tedco Racing did pretty well during the qualifying also as the #19 Proton Satria Neo which will be driven by Fitra Eri and Mark Darwin qualified for the third spot on the grid. The #16 car driven by Desmond Khoo, Andrew Haryanto and Chunkie Chandra will have to face the duo from Proton R3 as they will start the race from the sixth position.

But taking the top two positions on the grid are the entries from Honda Malaysia Racing Team (HMRT). The trio of Tengku Ezan Ley, Tengku Mahaleel and Farriz Fauzy made it clear that the checkered flag are theirs to take by taking the pole position.

Right behind them will be former A1GP driver Aaron Lim and Eddie Lew in the second Mugen-powered Honda Jazz race machine. With less than a second separating the top players, the battle to the finish will be a tough one for the 2013 Sepang 1000KM endurance race!
