Caterham’s AeroSeven Concept Gives Us a Glimpse of their 2014 Production Model

Caterham recently revealed their new model called the AeroSeven Concept at the Singapore Grand Prix, and we have got to say that this one is really something different from their previous model line-up. Being the first model designed with significant input from all of the Caterham Group’s specialist business arms, the AeroSeven Concept displays “the brand’s intentions in terms of product engineering processes, speed to market, as well as a hint to its styling direction for future models”.

The all-new sports car that is being co-developed with Renault is scheduled to launch in early 2016, will be influenced by the AeroSeven Concept’s styling. This Concept features things that we have never seen on Caterhams like traction control. This will give the driver to fully enjoy andjustable traction and also launch control. The AeroSeven’s body is made from carbon fiber and is equipped with race car-inspired features. These include aerodynamic styling, a steering wheel with driver-focused functionality, and a fully active Graphical Display Unit (GDU).

With a lightweight carbon fiber body, zerotohundred is done in just under 4 seconds. This is possible through the high-revving, naturally-aspirated 2.0-liter engine producing 237-horsepower, which could also be found in the Caterham Seven 485. The power is then sent to the rear wheels via Caterham’s six-speed manual gearbox.

Featuring a fresh and different design from the previous Caterham products, this new design has full bodywork and a shape that complements the revised chassis. Also incorporating a completely new rollover structure, it now has improved aerodynamic performance and aesthetics.

The new GDU included in the interior integrates all display and instrumentation in a high-resolution, centrally mounted unit. It could put up information like engine speed, gear selection, vehicle speed, traction and brake settings in a real-time 3D rendered display.
