So we generally think of aftermarket products as new shiny parts that generally adds greater appeal and capability to a ride, but we suppose the Swedes have a different idea than most, since being so far up north gets them plenty of snow that they find it absolutely necessary to change out the Volkswagen Toureg’s set of wheels for one with a different set of treads.
With harsh winters a commonality in Sweden, we certainly don’t blame them thinking up of such engineering ingenuity to equip the Toureg’s V8 TDI’s 340bhp and a whopping 800Nm of torque in such a manner, especially when there’s plenty of fine “white powder” that would get any avid skier or snowboarder overly anxious to carve into it.
If the Toureg were to venture into such territory with just its usual set of tyres, it wouldn’t get very far, even though its got all that power twist coming from the engine, but with a set of treads that effectively enlarges the surface area contact, much like a snow shoe, then things change for the better and the Toureg effectively becomes a Snowareg.
The Snowareg isn’t meant to be fast in such conditions, but it seems that it is – running the 100m race in clown shoes would definitely take tremendous amount of skill. It seems you’ll also be travelling in comfort with Dynaudio to keep you entertained, a panoramic moon roof to allow you some skylight, dual-zone climate controls and the all important heated seats for those butt-freezing moments.
