Making a car commercial may not be as easy as how it seems to be. Getting the audience to fall in love with the car in a very short duration means that the commercial makers would have think out of the box and show how great the car could perform in its own class. But unfortunately in promoting their new GT86, Toyota had taken a step too far in their new commercial, resulting in it being banned in the UK.
The UK’s Advertising Standards Authority (ASA) has officially banned this new commercial as it somehow depicts and glamorizing irresponsible and dangerous driving. According to their official announcement, “that kind of driving, and particularly the speeds, could be emulated on real roads. We also considered that the highly stylized nature of the commercial glamorized the reckless manner in which the car was driven”. Quite a mouthful for an explanation.

But the commercial is just downright awesome and frankly speaking, one that could afford a car like that is most probably not going to do such stunts on the public roads as they could more than afford on going to track days and such.
It is not a big matter though as although the ASA is seeing all red on this GT86 stunt, there is one Englishman who seems to be falling in love with this rear-wheeler. He is none other than the frizzy-haired auto icon, Jeremy Clarkson, as he simply describes it as “one of the best cars I’ve driven in ages”. Not the usual stuff that you hear from the man that usually fuels his comments with great sarcasm and an incredible attention to detail to any flaws that the car bears.
