The Performante Charity Drive 2012 – 80+ MY and SG Supercars Join Forces in the Name of Charity!

While most of us are able to enjoy living in today’s conditions with some luxury and no worries on getting the basic needs, there are still those who are not that fortunate. Those that work day and night just to get enough money for food or missing out school in order to help out their siblings or elderly. With the aim to lessen the burden carried by these unfortunate individuals, a group of supercar owners from both Malaysia and Singapore had gathered together to help them through the Performante Charity Drive 2012.

The drive lasted for four days from 1st to 4th November, taking the convoy from Kuala Lumpur to the high hills of Cameron Highlands before spending the weekend at the Pearl of the Orient. But before setting off for the journey, the convoy first met up at the Sg. Buloh RnR to put on the sponsor decals and making the final checks.

With the GT-R set as the minimum requirement in joining in the drive, they were literally all over the place. But it was indeed an interesting sight as some of them bear their own unique identity, like this wrapped matte yellow GT-R which could definitely be spotted from miles away.

Also joining the lineup from Japan was this pristine NSX-R from the Land of the Rising Sun. Driven by our top gun driver Fairuz Fauzy, he truly has a great taste in his car selection and hopefully we will see more of this babe in the future.

Being a supercar convoy, the Italians are the must-show faces in such drives. Other than this first-gen Lamborghini Gallardo that could definitely wake up the dead with its super-loud roar, this Rosso Fuoco Ferrari 458 Italia is a clear example of a “sexy” creation on wheels.

The Brits and Germans also showed up with their best, where the Englishmen were represented by the Astons while Audi, Mercedes and Porsche carried the Deutschland’s pride of automotive perfection.

After a short briefing in laying down the rules to all the participants, the convoy rolled out from the RnR to get a splash of fuel and straight to their first overnight stay over at Cameron Highlands. The journey was a smooth sailing for everyone, and the weather was friendly enough to not turn it into a wet and gloomy drive.

The cruise did not really took a long time as only light traffic filled the highways, and by noon the whole convoy reached the hotel safely. The hotel’s parking lot was reserved specifically for the participants of this drive, and at a blink of an eye it was full with cars that are barely road legal.

While some took the opportunity to recharge their batteries for the following drive the following day, being the Cameron Highlands, most of them took a short trip to the famous Boh Sungei Palas Visitors Centre to behold the great green scenery that the vast tea fields offer. It was truly a picturesque view that gives the eyes something relaxing to rest on, offering a break from the sky-scraping concrete jungles from the urban life.

The first day of the Performante Charity Drive 2012 concluded with a dinner with all the participants topping up their energy reserve before heading up north to Penang. With everyone being in great spirits especially with the noble purpose that this drive carries, everyone was looking forward in continuing their journey towards the Pearl of the Orient. Do stay tuned with us as we will serve you our coverage of this convoy going all the way up north in style!
