The Galibier Soon to Enter Bugatti’s Production Line

Realizing a demand in four-door luxury sedans, a lot of supercar makers have stepped up into the scene with their own exquisite creations. Porsche is in with their Panamera, Maserati has their mafia-boss car Quattroporte in the game, and Aston Martin also did not want to get left behind by introducing the Rapide. And now, there is word that the would-be new player in this game is going to be none other than the makers of the astonishing Veyron, Bugatti.

It is called the Galibier. And while it does look a bit tame and classy; almost Bentley-like, the Galibier still bears the huge numbers that dwarfs any of its rivals, just like the Veyron. Again, this Bugatti will feature a W16 engine with a displacement of 8.0-litre. But unlike the 400km/h+ Veyron, it will use a two-stage supercharger rather than the quad-turbocharger setup. Even so, the Galbier was reported to have an output of over 1,000 horsepower.

Most of the body parts for this sedan are made from carbon fiber, but aluminum takes the shape of some body panels like the doors and fenders. With an interior that fits four occupants, one would not have to guess that this luxury sedan will fit the highest quality of leather and trimmings to match its grand status.

While it was in the plan to have the car ready for sale somewhere in 2012, the Galibier went back to the drawing board as Bugatti’s boss, Wolfgang Durheimer was said to be disappointed with the car’s level of comfort and performance. So far there is no exact date of the release, nor the official numbers of its performance. But it is said that the Galbier will exceed the Veyron’s USD1.7million (RM5.4million) price tag, and 1,500 units (five times more than the Veyron) will be made.

And to add up to the hype, Bugatti had given their word that the Galibier would not be the only model coming from them in the near future, as they have in plan to create a spiritual successor for the Veyron. Breaking through the 450km/h barrier probably?
