The Lamborghini Blancpain Super Trofeo Asia Series now takes its high speed action way all over to China, with the 5th and second final round taking place at the 5.451km Shanghai International Circuit. Coming in as a support race for the FIA World Endurance Championship (WEC), the race series had so far shown a great display of performance and durability by both the drivers and the Lamborghini Blancpain Super Trofeo race car.
The F1-standard circuit challenges the drivers with 14 turns and a long straight of 1,175 meter, allowing the cars to reach a very high speed. And with two official races being set for the 5th round, it gave the drivers a chance get accustomed to the track before the final showdown takes place at the same place later in the 10 – 11 November.
A total of 17 teams went head-to-head on the humid Saturday showdown for the morning and afternoon races. Our own Rizal Ramli spared no room for error earlier on during the qualifying sessions and managed to secure the third position for both of the runs, with D. Rizzo and C. Charlz taking the top two spots.
During the race however, the great chase Rizal gave to race leader C. Charlz during the first race was impressive, but not enough to earn him the top spot as he missed it by a mere 0.002 seconds. Having already built up the momentum, he thundered through the second race after overtaking the race leader D. Rizzo in the second lap and defended the position until the end of the afternoon race.
The next and final round will take place at the same venue this 10-11 November, and we would like to wish our top gun Rizal Ramli the best of luck in continuing his remarkable winning streak!
