Honda CEO Confirms the Return of “TYPE-R” for Europe!

2015 will be the year that’s been indicated by Honda’s CEO, Takanobu Ito, on the return of the Honda Civic Type-R for Europe. Of course there are no official details regarding performance and specifications just yet, but this much has been promised thus far by Ito – it will be the “fastest front-wheel drive (FF) on the Nuburgring” thanks to much of it’s technology trickling in from their participation in the World Touring Car Championships (WTCC).

Following Ito’s absence for the last few years on the front lines, he has finally appeared to announce plans for Honda that sent the automaker’s stocks rising before the end of last week, also fuelled by additional announcements on the Japanese automaker’s plans for the future.

Ito has also indicated that there will be more exciting models to come, infused with both performance and higher levels of fuel efficiency, including the likes of an upcoming subcompact crossover that’s based on the next-generation Honda Fit/Jazz, due out next year and will be going on sale within 2 years, in order to strengthen its competitiveness in the sub-compact SUV market.

But it wasn’t just limited to Honda’s 4-wheeled creations; more announcements also included their highly popular 2-wheel crotch-rockets that will be based on their MotoGP racing bike that would take after the VFR750R homologation bike that was manufactured in limited numbers between 1987 and 1990.

Going into fuel efficiency, Ito has also indicated Honda will be soon be introducing three new hybrid systems that will reach out to varying customer needs – looking to not just play a critical role in reducing CO2 emissions, but to also possess the best fuel efficient motor within the hybrid fraternity of vehicles through their improvements in both engine and battery performance with a newly developed transmission that will help extend their zero emission electric driving range.

Lastly, Honda is also looking to increase performance levels of their currently in development two-motor hybrid system for mid-size vehicles.

In addition, there will also be a high performance and efficiency 3-motor hybrid system, the Sport Hybrid SH-AWD (Super Handling All Wheel Drive) that focuses on driving performance and will see the inside of the new NSX that will help deliver unrivalled driving performance and fuel economy.

All of this and more will help Honda spearhead its new annual customers to 39 million by fiscal year 2017.
