Ferrari’s 4.5L dry-sump, flat-crank, 90-degree, naturally-aspirated V8 engine managed to win the Best Performance Engine for the second year running during the prestigious International Engine of the Year Awards.
A panel of motoring journalists from 35 countries inspected and judged the shortlisted engines that made it into the final selection using their driving impressions and technical knowledge whilst taking into account characteristics such as fuel economy, smoothness, performance, sound and drivability.
There to receive the award on Ferrari’s behalf was Jean Jacques His, Head of Ferrari’s powertrain department, who commented: “Winning both these important titles again in the face of such strong rivals is naturally a real honour, but most importantly it is testament to the fact that Ferrari’s expertise in engine design is unmatched, not just in terms of technical excellence, but in terms of real-world driving pleasure.”
