Faster Than Ever – Bugatti’s 1,600HP Super Veyron to arrive in 2013

The Bugatti Veyron is an amazing piece of engineering. Other than the immense power coming out from the massive W16 engine, the Veyron is famously known for its mind-blowing 408km/h top speed. But that was never enough for them, so they kept on tweaking the Veyron and came out with the Super Sport bearing 1,200-horsepower and a top speed of 431km/h. Jaw-dropping, but that does not mark the end of the Veyron’s development as a much powerful version is said to be making an appearance next year, dubbed as the Super Veyron.

This Super Veyron bears a bunch of impressive numbers that dwarfs any road-legal car that one had seen or heard so far. With a larger 9.6-liter turbocharged W16 churning out 1,600-horsepower, this Super Veyron has a higher top speed of 465km/h, and will bury the occupants in the seats with the 1.8-second zerotohundred acceleration.

The weight is also an issue that Chief vehicle engineer Jens Schulenburg is set to tackle, as to what he told the British magazine AutoExpress, “We are looking on the next super-sports car. The big challenge will be reducing weight – we are looking at some incredible technologies, such as wheels made entirely from carbon fiber”. They are already in the right track as a more extensive use of carbon fiber for the Super Veyron had shed 250kg off its weight, giving it a power-to-weight ratio of one kg per horsepower.

The Chief engineer had also hinted that they were considering in making the car a hybrid, but the current hybrid systems still weighs a lot and it will pretty much hunker down the car more than it should be, not the best way to add up more power especially when it is planned to be unveiled at next year’s Frankfurt Motor Show.

A standard Veyron empties it's fuel tank in 12 mins at top speed. A Veyron Super Sports does that in just 8 mins. I guess this Super Veyron will do it in 3-4 mins at top speed.
