Previously the CEO of British car-maker Group Lotus Plc., Dany Bahar, has just filed a claim against DRB-HICOM Bhd. and now seeks compensation for 6.7 million pounds over what he sees as unlawful early termination of his employment last week.
DRB-HICOM is still adamant about their stance after having performed an investigation into his stewardship of Lotus, where they feel that they have acted properly at all times and will “vigorously” oppose and defend against the claim, even though no specifics have been mentioned following Bahar’s dismissal. Following which, DRB-HICOM and Lotus will now file a counter-claim against Bahar.
Unless Lotus is able to meet their performance figures, DRB-HICOM has considered selling Lotus, but then in May, it seems that they’ve decided to retract that initial statement.
Dany Bahar had earlier announced a 5-year plan to help turn Lotus around with the aim to break even as soon as 2014, by entering into China’s market and the introduction of 5 new models that will begin with the Esprit that’s supposed to make its debut by end of 2013.
But with Bahar out of the picture, things seem a little uncertain at the moment as to whether the new Esprit will make its debut by the end of 2013 and whether any of Bahar’s plans will follow through to their deadlines.
