Good job for trying, but 'all talk no action' policy is firmly in place here. No fault of zerotohundred.com...its the way our government works.

As long the G keep the NAP & APs system & not an open market. our local automotive will not going any where. So don't even talk about motorsport.
B
agree with bluetaxi a lot...

malaysian nowadays has a brain that ahead of motorsport and its industry. but the Gov always find a way to fool. things that they like to see is a normal-humble ppl, drive a normal car in a humble way. just wtf...

why shouldnt we talk about motorsport?

these AP, open market, etc etc is entirely different agenda. motorsport is, i think all of us know, a sport which exist in the form of competition.

get it straight and clear bhoys.

and these old mindset arguments arent win us any battle, let alone war. now that we are at least politically open, why not use that media?

these old mindset number one argument always about the car prices to be CHEAP. dont care about anything, but car prices must be cheap. thats mean dismantling the tax. their 'concrete' supports include comparing with foreign countries car prices, and direct forex.

demolish proton, is another 'support' often voiced by these half past sixes. this, maybe the combination of old mindset and unbelieveable hatred.

i am all for lower car prices. but to do it successfully, we need intelligence, not hotheads. whether u like it or not, the G wont be changed even in the next PRU. hotheads wont win u anything.

on to the motorsports, i think most of the ventures we;ve taken now and before, requires alot of money and expertise which both we dont really have. but for us to stand at the top of the world, these first hard steps of course need to be taken.

why cant we have motorsport centres here in malaysia, chanelling all the expertise we got during 10-15 years involvement? and our roadcars dont really benefit from that as well. ask about why proton took so long to implement the technologies of lotus onto their cars as well.

we have got so many talents in the junior level go cart/ biking scenes, but unfortunately we seem incapable to move to the highest level. why is that happening? just for how long those kids to drive for meritus? and whats the things that requires for them to go to the next level?

i've read the auto bio of that over rated lewis, i believe the transition from carting to atleast F3 need more than talent. he was on the mercedes book since 13~

This is the billion dollar question and related to the country's priorities and industry infrastructure development :)

There is indeed a lot of talent in various areas of the sport, not just drivers. Many unpolished gems. The jigsaw pieces are there. What it needs is a giant hand to assemble it all together and form a wonderful picture. The hand is still asleep though occasionally it gets distracted. We actually have great potential and the enthusiasm is there. Someone wake up the giant!

I think the G needs to give more support to grass root level of motorsport here... harvest and nourish local talents first, rather than splashing all our cash in an over ambitious F1 that uses technology 40-50 years ahead of the mass market, and only accessible to the rich few...

Try something that is more grounded to reality, like Rally cars, touring cars... F1 is more like space technology now compared to the technology of cars we have here.

And more importantly, build more economic tracks that normal people can enjoy.... rather than only having Sepang that cost around RM200 per track day... that is not something alot of people have privilage.... take the defunct idea of the KL motorpark, where on earth is the promised cheap circuit that never materialize...? o.O

A1Diablo,

could fund is the real reason? of course its a combination of 'reasons' but cost is i believe among the main ones. the other maybe the infrastructures. but then we already have few carting courses all over the country, arent we?

as far i can tell, one in langkawi, one in malacca, a few in the middle KL, Selangor, of course non in sabah sarawak..

what happened to the rally king Karamjit is a perfect example of money rules. i would say karamjit is a proven gem for national level, but although not as good as crocker or those japanese hes among the top driver outside malaysia. still he cant manage to get people spnsor him.

the two bikers who got wild car entry for last years' sepang GP dont really ride dissappointingly arent they? we have been involved in motoGP for quite some years since the days of the petronas/ proton/ tie up with fogarty, infact its been since the days of the late Leong (i forgot his name totally, i just put 'leong' for the sake of a chinese name i can suddenly pick up from my mind. btw hes chinese).

whats his name, saladin? the driver making his name up in national rally scene? i dont quite know him, but i reckon hes not at karamjit's level. good thing is hes determined. and getting up there.

the juniors, i believe need no introduction. those driving with meritus and other privateers, warrant a mention for their deserving performance, but i am afraid they will not get to the superlicense level anyway.

You are an expert judge of talent, I suppose ??

Of course, when it comes to all armchair experts, their defining talent is to run their mouth off with loud adjectives and big opinions, short of actually having to do any of the actual driving... LOL

Hamilton...as with all World Champions, people either hate him or love him. It wouldn't matter that in his rookie year he convincingly outperformed a double World Champion in Alonso when both were teammates using the same equipment. In some people's warped sense of objectivity, he's still "overrated".
