The Rally of Monte Carlo was first raced in 1911 and was an important means of testing the latest improvements and automobile innovations. Winning the rally would give the winning car incredible credibility and publicity. The rally is also famous for its special stages, many have perished along the stages but many more have gone on to be legends of rallying, Marcus Gronholm and Petter Solberg are just some examples of racers who have crashed in the Monte Carlo rally stages.
