Subaru may have pulled out of the WRC but rallying and Subaru is still far from over. Details are still fuzzy but this is the news for now, Barattero Motorsport and YPF Elaion are teaming up and with a little help from Subaru to compete in the 2010 Dakar Rally in January. The team will be competing in the new Subaru Forester or rather just something that looks like the new Subaru Forester.
Ensuring competitiveness, the Forester is packing a tuned 2.0-liter (JDM Spec) STI boxer four good for around 300hp and 420lb-ft of torque. The racer is a tube-framed, carbon fiber and kevlar-bodied machine that has been fitted with dual shocks with nine inches of suspension travel, vented and cross-drilled brakes sized 295mm and everything else that is required to run in the world’s most treacherous off-road race. Piloting the car will be Yoshiu Ikemachi and Gabriel Pozze on January 1st. But before that, the team has released this video teaser for us. Time to keep up with the Argentina-Chile Dakar Rally soon.
