Next month Singapore will make history yet again when the Singapore GP Season returns from 18 to 27 September 2009. This year, the season will feature the world’s first F1 ROCKS featuring global superstars such as Beyonce and Black Eyed Peas as well as Chinese pop legend Jacky Cheung. The F1 ROCKS Singapore live music extravaganza is the latest highlight of an already stellar line-up of all-night parties, mouth-watering Asian cuisine, sizzling fashion and red-hot shopping deals under the Singapore GP Season, which complements the fast and furious action of the 2009 Formula 1 Singtel Singapore Grand Prix – the world’s first and only Formula One night race.
This year’s Singapore GP season is expected to add much buzz and excitement to the city with a host of new and returning events. These top-notch lifestyle and entertainment events are not to be missed, especially with most of them just a stone’s throw from the race circuit. Some events will also sport a new Asian touch that will help differentiate the Singapore GP from other race events around the world.

F1 ROCKS: A new global entertainment franchise by the Formula One Management will debut in Singapore during the 2009 Singapore GP Season from 24-26 September. Headlined by renowned international artistes such as Beyonce, Black Eyed Peas, Jacky Cheung, ZZ Top, Simple Minds, N*E*R*D and Da Mouth. F1 ROCKS Singapore will complete the race experience, entertaining audiences with three nights of exhilarating concerts that will rock the city all through the night.
Asia On The Edge: A lifestyle festival with a strong Asian focues and one of the key events under the Singapore GP season. Taking place at the Arts House and around the Empress Place precinct at the Singapore River from 18-27 September, it will showcase the best of Asian talents through food, fashion, arts and crafts and a great, outdoor visual spectacular.
For the first time, visual arts lovers can experience the quirkiness and vibrant colours of Brazilian neo-pop artist and sculptor Romero Britto in his exhibition Britto in Singapore, brought in by the Opera Gallery at ION Orchard, Singapore’s newest shopping destination. His works will be on display at an outdoor exhibition in the urban green rooms fronting ION Orchard, as well as the Opera Gallery.
Lover of pop opera group Il Divo are in for a treat as the quartet will be performing hits from their latest album, ‘The Promise’, at the Singapore Indoor Stadium on 21 September, in what promises to be a spectacular musical and visual journey. Formula One photographer Paul-Henry Cahier will be showcasing, for the first time, his stunning images of the world’s first Formula One night race in THE FIRST NIGHT RACE Outdoor Photo Exhibition.
Topping the entertainment line-up are renowned international artistes Chaka Khan, Backstreet Boys and Travis. There are also stage performances covering genres such as World, Soul, Pop and Rock, with artistes such as Senegalese legend Youssou N’Dour – listed in Time Magazine’s 100 Most Influential People. Rock & Roll Hall of Fame’s Mavis Staples and Filipino pop sensation Rivermaya will also be performing. Los Angeles culture-mashers Ozomatli are also set to energise audiences across the circuit park. Singapore’s iconic dance club, Zouk, will once again charge up the Padang with its roaring dance parties. Godfather of UK techno Carl Cox and progressive tech-house meister John Digweed will man the decks.
Returning Favourites: After a successful run last year, Amber Lounge Singapore makes its return. One of the world’s premier parties, it boasts the presence of drivers, teams, celebrities and models. Amber Lounge Singapore takes place on the 26th and 27th September 2009 at Temasek Reflections near the Conrad Centennial Singapore.
