The BMW family is set to to grow even bigger than it already is with the latest probable addition to the family being a coupe version of the X1, called the X2 Sports Activity Vehicle or SAV. Something like how the X6 is the SAV of the X5, the X2 will play SAV to the X1. But unlike the X6, the X2 will feature two doors making it a true crossover coupe than the X6 and much better looking, in the rendering for now.
Rumours first began appearing about the mini crossover coupe when German media, Autobild Allrad reported the story in its August issue. It will rival the Audi Q3, which is also a coupe, when it appears sometime in 2011. Specific details on powertrains and other specifications remain unclear though it is believed that BMW will borrow engines from the 1-Series lineup. Overall size of both the X1 and X2 is said to be comparable to the Toyota RAV4.
