Rendering: 2010 Volkswagen Robust – The First VW Pick Up Truck

vw-robust-_2Volkswagen has been working on its forthcoming truck dubbed the Robust for a while now but except for spy shots, little is known of how the VW truck will look like, till now. Dedicated CarScoop reader and a graduate of UBA, Argentine Joel L. Fernandez came up with these renderings of the Volkswagen Robust.

Providing us with the first glimpse of how the production version may look like, the Robust definately doesn’t look bad, it’s just weird seeing a VW truck. Sticking true to its ‘Folks-Wagon’ name, the Robust will compete against such established trucks as the Toyota Hilux and Nissan Frontier as well as other trucks to offer its ‘folks’ the ideal solution to their pick up voes.

Just when you figured you could have a European truck for all your heavy duty chores, VW is believed to be aiming to introduce the Robust in South American and South African markets only. Not even the truck loving Americans will get the Robust in their market but there’s a good chance that a few selected European markets will be offered the high-end version. As for us here in Malaysia, well, if you leave some convincing replies in the comments section below, someone in VW Malaysia might just be convinced that its worth bringing it down.

if the price is right.. why not.. vw's/audi's turbo diesel (tdi) is one of the best around.. 4wd is no stranger to them too, lambo, audi s4, touareg, r32, etc.. shud be good enuff..
I really doubt a pickup like this would make it in the Malaysian Market. Taxes and all would make it a financially unfeasible car to buy! It's the same for all the VW cars. Who'd buy a 1.6 for RM190k? Only purists or die-hard VW fans or just people who have too much money to spend.

The Hilux and Frontier would have this pickup for breakfast in terms of sales figures.

Dont think the Robust will ever make its way here.. now with soaring diesel prices.. and the wrath of the Hiluxes and soon, the Navara from Nissan..

But then, if there is a demand, the grey importers can cash on it by bringing in the VW truck..

There's a hint of Mitsubishi Triton somewhere in there. This will definitely give Mitsubishi and their other competitions a run for their money.

VW Malaysia. Bring it in. I would buy it.
Retail price should not be that far off from the rest of the Jap brands. It will fall under the pickup category for taxes.
