Over at TIMETOATTACK, we never stop receiving the best and most impressive entries every year with every single one of them being more than ready to grab the throne of being Sepang’s fastest man. The journey to the top is nothing close to being easy, but having the right tool for the job is a good start. And the most preferred weapon is undoubtedly the JDMs; not only for their relatively affordable cost compared to other cars, but also for the immense power that comes with it.
Crawling out of bed, I disregarded personal hygiene and headed out to the porch. There she sat – my 2011 RenaultSport Megane RS250. Staring at her, my heart skipped a beat as I contemplated the day ahead of me… Time To Attack Round 1… a day for a date with glory.
Earlier that week, we received news that the tuning houses Wing Hin and Exotic Mods would be sending souped up Golf R’s in a quest to pry the EURO crown from the French Connection. The RS250 had an extremely strong showing in 2012′s final round in December, claiming First and Third place convincingly. But this year, it looked like the competition had up’ed their game, coming out in full force and fully modded machines.
Word on the street had it that Wing Hin was targeting a 2:32 in their Stage 3 Golf R. The R.S. Collectif (RenaultSport owners club) Facebook page and Whatsapp group chats were abuzz with the “David & Goliath”-ness of the situation. 2013 would prove to be a real chance to show the big-boys that us Privateers (with our limited funds) could give them a run for their money. And besides, it’s always good box office when the little man beats the big man… Such was the story of the Williams F1 team (but that’s a story for another day… or post).
I arrived at Sepang International Circuit half an hour before the scheduled drivers briefing at 11.15am and proceeded to the usual scrutineering before heading to Pit 13, the designated pit for Renault. The service team sent specially by Renault (in support of the participating drivers) was already on standby to help me with my wheel swap, trading my Kumho KU36 ladden stockies for some other ones with worn Federal FZ201′s.
TIMETOATTACK is finally back to rock the Sepang International Circuit for its third year, and the years passed had definitely made it a bigger and better event for automotive enthusiasts in Malaysia. Although the TIMETOATTACK is widely known as an event where the fastest machines in the region congregate to Sepang and shave every single millisecond they encounter with all their might, we at Zerotohundred also aim to celebrate the current happenings of the autoworld and adding a bit of our own twist.
Proven to be the crowd’s favourite, we brought the main straights of Sepang International Circuit into life with the howling sounds of angry horses and screeching tires through the TTA Drag Attack. With a massive fleet of GT-Rs from ATS Automobile and hardcore supercars like the Ferrari 360 Challenge Stradale and Lamborghini’s Aventador LP 700-4 joining in the mayhem, you do not need to travel all the way to Russia to experience an all-out supercar drag race.
Again bringing a whiff of fresh air to TIMETOATTACK is the new Run What You Brung Car Park Autocross, which is basically what it is as said on the package. Whether you drive a full-on Lotus Elise or just a normal four-door Civic sedan, you will never look at the car park the same way ever again as they managed to bring fun and excitement with just the bare necessities!
Since the EPICSTANCE proved to be a huge success back in 2012, it is back again this year to give the slammed and stretched community a place they could call home and share their most outrageous fitment and stance they could fit on their rides. From the local MyVis to Wiras, going all the way to the Mercs and Bimmers, this new crowd-puller was being livened-up with the Limbo Rock Challenge! So how low can your slammed car go?
But just when we thought we have seen it all, the TIMETOATTACK still keeps the best for the last as we are seeing more time attackers emerging into the scene, all showing great potential in being the next big thing in the scene. Although new cars like Pitworks’ mean-looking Nissan 200SX has a lot of potential in grabbing the title of the fastest machine around Sepang, champions like ST Wangan’s Evo and Neverland’s impressive car line-up will not be letting it go without a fight.
And of course, this opening round for 2013 will not be a success if it is not for the support poured down from our great fans and the generous sponsors; a big thank you to all of you! Conquering 2010-2012′s NA-FF Class at TIMETOATTACK in Team Kazama Drive M7′s Honda FD2R, Lai Wee Sing has since moved on to the darkside! – He now pilots a R35 GTR and will represent his own entity, R-Engineering. A recently established tuning house based in Johor Bahru, south of Malaysia. R-Engineering is also one of the very few tuning shops in JB with an in-house dyno facility.
Team Ascendant Motorsport, a loyal follower of the TIMETOATTACK since 2010 had made great progress in last year’s season with Arthur Lo’s R35 GTR, at 4th place clocking a 2:25.807 lap time in our Top 20 Fastest Hall of Fame! At this Sunday’s Round 1, Arthur will be back with some tricks up his sleeves, going against tough GTR Competion this time around.

Guess what? Something rare is about to hit Sepang this weekend. The Lamborghini Gallardo LP570-4 Super Trofeo Stradale. Not one, but TWO! ~ Only 150 of thisraging bulls were produced, and 2 of only a handful in Malaysia will be attacking Sepang this Sunday.
Based on the Super Trofeo race car setup, the Stradale is nothing less like its racing brother, only made to go over speed bumps. The STS is set to go head-2-head against its closest competitor, the Ferrari 430 Scuderia during the TIMETOATTACK stint in the Supercar category.

One of TIMETOATTACK most loyal participants. Ken Ji, in his HKS bred S15 Silvia had conquered the Turbo FR class time after time. He’s since moved on and had just debuted his satin Gold GTR at last year’s December Finale. Coming in 2nd in TIMETOATTACK’s Top 20 Fastest Men Hall of Fame at 2:24.276 on a less than ideal Hot Lap, he’s confident in shaving off precious seconds this Sunday. Pentagon Racing, based in Kuala Lumpur, is one of Malaysia’s most recognized tuning house for anything Honda. Namely the K20A powered Type-Rs. Setting highly respectable lap times and leaving their mark at top Malaysian circuit events has brought them into the spotlight.
Being one of the must-show faces at TIMETOATTACK, we met up with Chris at Honda-specialist’s headquarters, and had a little chat about their progress in the pursuit for that magical lap time. It is to our amazement though that the car that used to represent Pentagon (driven by Chris) during the 2012 round had already changed hands earlier this year.

Yes, Tengku Djan, the crowd’s heartrob will once again be gracing the TIMETOATTACK this Sunday, so catch him in his left hand driven E36 M3, that he’s meticulously built to his liking. A base E36 that’s been lightened, then converted from a right hand drive with an M3 lump and other CSL inspired mods.
Although we welcome all photographers, be it budding professionals or hobbyists, for this 2013 Season of the TIMETOATTACK, a new regulation is implemented where only approved media personnel with TIMETOATTACK MEDIA passes will be allowed an all-access permission to roam the circuit, especially the circuit corner’s vantage points. If you’ve yet to apply, please do so as soon as you can as slots are limited.

The recent Tokyo Auto Salon did host a huge number of JDMs, but it seems that most of them were dominated by the monstrous Nissan GT-R R35s.
