Nissan DeltaWing – 2012 in Retrospect

Radical as it is, the Nissan DeltaWing is undoubtedly a far cry from anything conventional – shaped like a delta wing (hence its name) and as we approach the end of 2012, many of us will tend to look back upon our deeds for the year and take stock of what has been achieved; as Nissan has done so, and with pride might we add.

Nissan DeltaWing – Mission Accomplished

After a string of bad luck that had struck the DeltaWing in the few races that it was allowed to take part, the skies had finally opened up for the prototype racer as the DeltaWing managed to keep it all together and cross the finish line at the Petit Le mans with a fifth-place finish. This is an incredible feat shown by the team, considering that they were actually very close in not being able to race at all.

The DeltaWing Ready to Show Its Worth at Petit Le Mans

With an all-new radical design that brings up a new breath in motorsports, the DeltaWing had generated quite a chatter even before its maiden race at the 24 Hours of Le Mans. Unfortunately for the No.0 car, the race came to a premature end as the DeltaWing was shoved into the walls by Toyota’s No.7 TS030, causing a great deal of damage which had forced the unique race machine to retire from the race.
