Renderings can sometimes be misleading if done by unreliable sources, some may be good but end up being worlds apart from the real thing. Lesson? Don’t trust renderings unless they are credible! These renderings are from a Slovenian website called ‘Avtomanija’ (AutoManiac anybody?) who published these photos of what could be the prototype version of the upcoming Mclaren F2 supercar scheduled to debut sometime in 2010. Project Alligator: Not So Secret Mercedes-Aston Martin Tie Up

Mercedes is working with Aston Martin (AM) on a collaboration dubbed Project Alligator. The collaboration does not include a new car but includes everything else from drivetrains to platforms. Though there is no news of a Mercedes/AM car, the final product of their tie up could prove to be very interesting and the idea is not to be dismissed. Read more

The Mercedes Mclaren SLR has been around for slightly over five years now, that makes it a grand daddy in the automotive world and just like all grand daddy’s, it’s days are numbered. But the SLR is no normal grand daddy, it’s the equivalent of a rock star here in the real world and rock stars deserve their last hoorah. We have heard this many times before and yet the rumours continue but the partnership between Mclaren and Mercedes has remained just that, a partnership. German auto giants, Mercedes who currently own 40% equity in Mclaren, have continuously downplayed the suggestion that they were to make a move to buy out Mclaren after 12 years of collaboration but things may take a turn in the next few months or maybe even years. All good things have to come to an end, and racing in Formula 1 has been a good thing for both David Coulthard and us, the spectators as we watched DC tear up circuits all over the world. It all started 14 years ago when another good thing came to an end, but that end was sadly met by the legendary Ayrton Senna. DC had to fill in for the late Brazilian after that faithful afternoon at Imola and now, 236 Grand Prix’s later, the elder statesman is about to call it a day with a colourful career that spans across racing for a team, building a team and perhaps even managing one soon.
