Eco Pedal by Nissan - No More ‘Pedal-to-Metal’

Nissan has revealed a so-called Eco Pedal accelerator designed to discourage drivers from putting their foot down too hard and driving in a fuel-wasting fashion. Looking at how expensive the petrol price is now, it might just make sense to convert to electric cars. Even the guys at Proton has come up with electric powered Lotus.
Here’s the new ‘Nice-MyCar’, a two-seat electric city car that will be revealed at the 2008 British Motor Show. Styled by the Giugiaro design studio and built in Hong Kong, the MyCar can do 65km/hand around 65km between recharges. A recharge takes 6 to 8 hours. Read more
Ferrari to Produce Hybrid Cars

Ferrari is planning to cut the CO2 emissions of its cars by 40 per cent before 2012. The company’s president, Luca di Montezemolo has suggested that hybrid power will be part of that process. His comment will be seen as confirmation that Ferrari is developing a road version of the Kinetic Energy Regeneration System (KERS) that the Ferrari F1 team will be using from next season. Read more

BMW M3 beats Toyota Hybrid Prius in Fuel Economy Test

The latest BBC’s Top Gear aired on Sunday last week (UK time) casts doubt upon the notion that a hybrid car would be the most fuel efficient in every circumstances.
Clarkson chose the most extreme examples to make the point — a sedan equipped with a V-8 engine producing 414 horsepower against the Toyota Prius with its 76 horsepower hybrid motor. The EPA rates the BMW at 14 miles per gallon in the city, and 20 on the highway which compares unfavorably to the 48 and 45 figures for the Prius. Read more
